Govern

Approve the change, then prove you did

SynkBase gives every governed definition an owner, a lifecycle and an approval path, and records each step in an audit trail that cannot be edited after the fact.

The life of a definition

  1. Step 1DraftA new term or a proposed change, with the reason written down.
  2. Step 2AssessedDownstream impact and rework cost are attached.
  3. Step 3In reviewRouted to approvers by your rules. Late reviews escalate.
  4. Step 4ApprovedBecomes the reference version. It cannot be edited, only replaced.
  5. Step 5RetiredKept with its history when a newer version takes over.

Change control stops at the IT boundary

Most organisations control changes to systems. Far fewer control changes to what a metric means. A formula can be edited in a ticket comment and reach a regulatory submission without anyone signing it off.

When an auditor asks who approved the definition used in last year's figures, the answer is usually an email thread.

What governance covers

Owners and lifecycle

Each term has an accountable owner and moves through defined states, from draft to approved to retired. Approved versions are immutable; a change creates a new version.

Approval routing

Changes are routed to the right approvers by rules you set: which domain, how much downstream impact, how high the rework cost. Requests that sit too long escalate.

Append-only audit trail

Every proposal, approval, rejection and override is recorded with who, when and why. Records can only be appended and can be exported for SOX and ISO evidence files.

Impact assessments that stay put

When a change is approved, SynkBase freezes the impact assessment behind it: the versions compared, the dependency path and the cost arithmetic. It reads the same a year later.

Shape SynkBase with us

We are working with a small number of organisations that live with this problem every quarter. Design partners get early access, direct influence on what we build first, and founder-level attention.
